Spyrals

Colorful building block towers - from Spyrals, an art generator by Anton Hoyer coded in MATLAB

“Spyrals” is a MATLAB script that produces colorful building block towers. The dimensions of the bottom block are randomly chosen, and then a random number of blocks are stacked on top, slightly rotating each while simultaneously decreasing their dimensions. The results range from thin needles to staircases to flat rock structures. Additionally, the random RGB colors applied to every triangle enhance the diversity and their visual appeal (to children, at least).

Unfortunately, this project was created before MATLAB was equipped with the functionality to smooth edges in 3D plots. Since I did not save any seeds for the random number generator, I cannot simply replot the existing images in a newer version of MATLAB but would instead need to create completely new images.
